Quality Control

The pre-shipment inspection entails a visual and a physical control on the agriculture products for all Lebanese exporters benefiting from the Export Plus program.
The inspection covers the minimum requirements for standards, grading, caliber, homogeneity, weight, packing, marking and category of the agricultural product in accordance with the regulations of Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture (number 385/1, 24/10/1997 modified by 1/2, 3/1/2000) and/or the regulations of the importing countries.
The inspection is conducted based on the Acceptable Quality level (AQL) or equivalent method of sampling procedures approved by IDAL.
-
The total number of packages is reported.
-
The transport trailer is also visually inspected before loading to check for proper handling of hygiene conditions and adequate maintenance of the cooling system of the refrigerated trucks (check for cleanliness, absence of bad odors or residues from previous cargoes, temperature pre-cooling; proper closing and functioning of the refrigeration system, absence of holes and nails in the floor, etc...).
-
The verification process requires the presence of full-time inspector(s) assigned by IDAL during the time of loading at the permanent and/or seasonal approved packinghouse.
-
If the shipment is intended for the European countries, samples are collected according to Codex Alimentarius and tested for pesticide residues.
-
The corresponding tests are done by laboratories adopted by IDAL. Only products which results are below the maximum residue limit (MRL) set by Codex Alimentarius and the Lebanese Standards Institution (LIBNOR) are allowed to be shipped through Export Plus.
To guarantee the quality of the produce, IDAL has awarded the following international inspection bureaus a one year contract, to carry out the required inspection on all products destined to be exported through Export Plus.
