Ended
325 US dollars
IDAL Convention

Service Description

Students will learn the process of Cold Metallization and begin the process for becoming certified as an applicator in MIDAS Metall®. MIDAS Metall® application involves mixing metal powder with a water-based pre-catalyzed binder. After curing, an applicator will sand and polish to expose a solid metal skin coating on their surface. The class begins with lecture and demonstration of the MIDAS Metall® product, the students will then start creating their own textured sample which they will take with them after the class. Students will mix and apply the MIDAS Metall® materials to create their own unique sample in their metal color of choice. Students will watch a full demonstration of the sanding and polishing process that creates a fully polished metal surface. They will get hands on practice in sanding and polishing during the class on class provided samples. They will receive instructor feedback to ensure proper technique on the polishing process to ensure full understanding and skill. Students will take their cured samples home after the class to polish. After completion of the samples, students will submit a photo of their sample and receive feedback from the instructor. All students will receive full Applicator Authorization of MIDAS Metall® after successful sample submission. Due to safety restrictions with polishing, students will polish their sample on their own and submit a photo of their polished sample for review and critique. After a successful sample submission, students will become fully Authorized Applicators of MIDAS Metall®. Tools To Bring: Due to safety restrictions with polishing, students will polish their sample on their own with proper safety precautions. Students to bring: Respirator (not a dust mask), gloves, goggles, variety of Trowels and a variety of brushes
