Pandemic & Beyond - Wednesday 8-10AM
Lori Wilson - Color, texture, and surface design trends for decorative painters
Service Description
The pandemic continues to influence designers' color palettes directly and indirectly. How did the color evolution change in the first years after 2020? What’s currently happening, and what’s expected with the next forecast? This lecture reviews the rising colors and textural trends in surface design (walls, ceilings, flooring, furniture) based on professional color forecasting and connected lines of aesthetic development from within fashion and art. It will be interpreted into interior design and decorative painting applications. The class includes a PowerPoint presentation, a physical mood board display, and the opportunity for lively discussion and brainstorming about how the pandemic has influenced decorative painting and how we can help redirect the interior design community with material options in the future. Tools and Materials Provided: A downloadable PDF of the colors for 2024-25 in the leading American paint company palettes. Physical mood boards containing fabric, painted finishes, and material samples will be available for review and photography. Tool and Materials Needed: A notebook, magazine images, or physical samples for discussion and brainstorming.
