Learn to imitate one of nature's most beautiful materials in this advanced faux finishing workshop with Dmitry Andruz. Working with Travertine and Venetian plaster, students create slab marble finishes with realistic depth, natural vein application, and a polished, mirror-like shine that rivals the real stone. Dmitry guides you through the full process: proper base preparation, color matching, building depth through layered plaster application, applying veins that read as authentic stone, and burnishing the surface to a mirror finish. These are the same techniques he uses on high-end commissioned work. Students complete 3 to 4 sample boards to take home for their portfolio. This class is designed for intermediate to advanced artisans who are comfortable with trowel work and ready to push their plaster skills to the next level. Your instructor: Dmitry Andruz specializes in advanced faux finishes and is best known for slab marble worked in Travertine and Venetian plaster to a mirror shine. He also works in metallic and textured plasters and rust effects such as Valpaint Corten. He teaches marble imitation at industry events and draws fine art alongside his surface work.
