If you're a decorative artist seeking to evolve, expand, or simply reignite your passion, Blurring the Lines: From Faux to Fine Art is the workshop you've been waiting for. This immersive two-day experience, led by seasoned decorative artist Michelle Bergman, is an invitation to explore new techniques, push past your boundaries, and begin creating deeply personal works of fine art.
Whether you’ve built your career in decorative finishes or you're just beginning your journey in creative expression, this workshop is designed to meet you where you are—and take you further.
From Walls to Canvas, Technique to Soul
In the world of decorative painting, there’s often a fine line between technique and personal expression. Michelle Bergman has spent more than 25 years walking that line—and now she’s here to help you cross it.
During Blurring the Lines, you’ll explore:
How to build texture and depth in your work
Unconventional tools and mark-making methods
Techniques for working with cold wax
Creating striking painted papers for collage
Integrating these techniques into original canvases
This is more than just a techniques class. It's a chance to find your voice as an artist, experiment freely, and learn how to transform surface design into fine art.
A Studio Space That Feels Like Home
Held at Michelle’s beautiful home studio in Independence, Kentucky, this workshop offers more than instruction—it offers connection. You’ll be working shoulder-to-shoulder with fellow creatives, learning not just from Michelle’s demos but also from each other. There will be dedicated studio time to dive deep into your own work and guided support every step of the way.
You’ll also have the opportunity to work with new products, rethink old favorites, and develop new approaches to surface and storytelling.
