From BBQ to Brushes: Inside a Weekend of Creativity, Connection, and Craftsmanship

From BBQ to Brushes: A Packed Weekend

Things kicked off Friday night with a relaxed and welcoming BBQ at the Como Rich Marino Gazebo. Attendees connected over good food, shared shop talk, and got ready for what Saturday had in store.

Saturday’s Paint Fest at The Stables at Knox Farm in East Aurora was the real showstopper. The setting was beautiful, and the energy was electric. From product testing to friendly competitions like “Five Knobs From Hell,” the day was full of action, laughter, and learning.

Demos, Vendors & IDAL in the House

One of the biggest highlights? Patricia Swanson and Dora Kearney, who brought their signature expertise and energy to the event. Representing IDAL (International Decorative Artisans League), they not only ran the IDAL booth but also gave hands-on demos that drew big crowds.

Their passion for decorative painting was contagious. Whether you were a seasoned artisan or a first-timer, there was something to learn, try, or be inspired by. The IDAL presence truly added a rich educational layer to the festival and showcased how vibrant and innovative the decorative painting community really is.
