Seeking Instructors of the Decorative Arts for our 2024 Convention.

Updated: Jan 13

International Decorative Artisans League seeks the best and the brightest.

Every year IDAL (the International Decorative Artisans League) seeks the best and the brightest instructors for our annual convention. IDAL is the longest existing, and largest established decorative arts organization in the US, comprising nearly 600 professional artists and sponsors.

Each year our convention offers an abundance of exciting classes, lectures, product expos, and opportunities to meet and share with very talented artists, from the US and other countries.

Seeking Qualified Instructors for 2024 Convention

Our instructors teach classes that range from a few hours to 2 days in length. We seek experienced instructors from multiple disciplines, bringing a wide variety of skills-oriented classes, utilizing new materials and/or new saleable techniques and methods. The next convention will be held November 4 through 7, 2024 at the Hilton Embassy Suites Hotel in St. Charles, Missouri (near St. Louis.)

Instructors self-determine the amount they wish to charge for their class(es), and the instructor’s remuneration is always 75% of the class fee with IDAL’s portion being 25%. Instructors can bring their own materials, but we also have many willing sponsors who often provide product if asked. Instructors are expected to provide their students with a hand-out that details all the processes used in class and sources for their materials.

Are you an experienced instructor with a great concept for an IDAL class? We encourage you to fill out the online teaching application at www.idal.org. Applications/proposals are being accepted now through February 28, 2024. Instructions are included in the application. Once you start the application process, you can “save” your work, and if you want to go back and edit the text, or add photos, you can– then when your application is complete hit “send” to submit it to IDAL.

2023 IDAL Convention – Come hang out with cool people.

After February 28, IDAL’s education committee will review all the submitted applications and subsequently notify the instructors who have been (or not been) accepted. Current trends, variety, and new techniques are some of the criteria by which applications are considered. The photos that you submit with your application help our committee to make decisions.

Once a class is scheduled and your contract is signed, IDAL will promote your class to our membership on www.idal.org and our varied social media platforms. Our instructors have found that this is a fabulous way to meet new students and increase your professional following.

Thank you – We look forward to seeing your ideas!
